LBTQ+ 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Scholarship

Yoga Forward, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporatation based in Salt Lake City, Utah is offering a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training for the LGBTQ+ community and influencers at the Pride Center.

Our curriculum, presented by Yoga Assets, a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS) will prepare students to become Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT).

This course, specifically tailored to the LGBTQ+ community will provide the trainee with life coping skills through the practices of yoga, mindfulness and breathing exercises. Emphasis will be placed on inclusivity, community connection and outreach.

SCHOLORSHIP INFORMATION:

This scholarship is for individuals who have a desire to work within the LGBTQ+ community, to create greater unity and connection. Candidates must have a strong desire to create a more supportive and inclusive community.  The intention of this grant is to develop and support passionate, experienced yoga practitioners into a role of teaching and leadership.

Requirements for Applicants:

(a) Commitment to attend and complete all 200 hours of training

(b) Commitment to be a Yoga Leader within the LGBTQ+ community

(c) All participants will teach 10 volunteer classes, and attend 10 community classes

(d) All participants will complete the required Post-Training in-kind commitments

TUITION SCHOLARSHIP:

This 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training is valued at $1,995.  Books and supplies are an additional $200.  Total value of this Scholarship is $2,195.

Participants are required to collect and contribute donations to Yoga Forward in the amount of $550 (25% of the award) or agree to offer equivilant volunteer teaching hours to our community .

HOW TO APPLY:

Step One:

Grab a webcam or smartphone and shoot a video introducing yourself to us (90 seconds MAX).  Give us your “elevator pitch.” Be brave, be creative and make your video stand out, but you need to convey your message in 90 seconds.  Videos longer than 90 seconds will be automatically eliminated from consideration.

Please address the following in your video:

  1. Clearly state your name, and your connection to LGBTQ+ community
    What is your experience with yoga (if any, not required)?
  2. Describe a need you see or have experienced in the LGBTQ+ community
  3. Describe how you plan to use your education to serve the LGBTQ+ community?
  4. Keep it informal, keep it fun!

Once it's created, share your video with us electronically however you’d like. Upload it to YouTube, Vimeo, use a file sharing software to send it to us...whatever you want.
